NextLevel "Bigger than Basketball" Training and Skills Development Program was established in 2012 out of Boston, Massachusetts. The Program was created with hopes of rejuvenating Boston Basketball.
A large number of kids particularly in urban inner city communities love to play sports and have the desire to play competitively but lack the skills, confidence and knowledge to do so. Many of these young people have no idea what it takes to be a good player or how to develop their skills over a period of time. NextLevel "Bigger than Basketball" is geared towards youth who do not have direct access to personal trainers that can help them improve their basketball skills, knowledge, endurance, health and nutrition. Although basketball is the magnet that attracts our youth to the program we like to emphasize the importance of becoming equipped with skills that can be used in normal everyday life contributing to success on and off the court: academic achievement, respect for self and others, teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and discipline.
As part of the process participants engage in peer discussions, maintain journals, learn how to set and achieve goals, as well as gain exposure to the college selection process, and Division 1 and 2 athletic scholarship qualifications. Fitness and nutrition are at the core of our program. Participants learn how to train their bodies, strengthen their muscles and build endurance so that they are capable of competing for longer periods of time. We dedicate time on the basketball court for strength and conditioning as well as on the track and field to increase endurance. The NextLevel Training team develops unique and personalized drills that will help participating athletes reach their maximum potential so that they are capable of joining an AAU, BNBL, Middle School, High School, or College basketball team. The positive and energetic environment that we provide and allows ours participants to feel confident about pursuing their passion of basketball and to develop their skills at their own pace.
The highlighted program and skill development components listed below are what we provide for the student athlete (not limited to):
Yoga has been shown to greatly reduce stress and aid in the development of flexibility, strength, posture, and lung capacity. Yoga emphasizes on the importance of breathing and can be used as a disciplined method of attaining a goal as well as controlling the body and mind. Yoga uses its powerful techniques to create a sense of inner peace, harmony, and clarity of mind which is relevant to the modern world. Yoga can be used as a tool for survival as well as expanding the creativity and joy of our lives. It can be a great inclusion to everyday exercise especially for athletes.
2. Aquatic Fitness Training
Water is another significant fitness tool. It provides resistance which strengthens muscles and boosts cardio intensity. It allows you to develop improved balance, agility and endurance. Being in the water can help support some of your weight making workouts easier on joints and reducing injury. Aquatic exercises can help you heal faster which is why doctors often recommend them for people with joint injuries, infections or surgeries as a way to stay fit and shorten recovery time.
3. Strength and Conditioning
Our strength and conditioning component is a major factor in our program by helping increasing stamina for long duration's of play and increasing strength to be able to compete at the next level. All of our strength and conditioning exercises are military based with a focus on core to extremities.
